GTA 6 Trailer 2 breakdown: Lucia, Jason, and the state of Leonida
The second trailer gave us our clearest look yet at the two leads and the criminal conspiracy that drives the story. Here's what we actually learned.
Rockstar's second GTA 6 trailer dropped on May 6, 2025, and gave fans their first real look at the two protagonists together. Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval are positioned as a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal pair — Lucia fresh out of Leonida Penitentiary and determined to build something better, Jason a former army member pulled into the same world.
The trailer's official description sets up the plot: the pair's deck is already stacked against them, and when what should have been an easy score goes wrong, they end up tangled in a conspiracy that stretches across the entire state of Leonida. It's a more grounded, character-driven pitch than GTA V's three-protagonist structure — closer in tone to a crime drama built around one relationship.
Visually, the trailer confirmed the footage was captured on a standard PlayStation 5, targeting 1440p at 30fps rather than 60fps. Digital Foundry's analysis afterward pointed to ray-traced global illumination running throughout, which looks to be a core part of the game's visual identity rather than just a marketing flourish.
Lucia is also notable for being the first non-optional female protagonist in the mainline GTA series — in every previous entry, you either played as a man or, in GTA V's case, had the option to switch between three male leads. Here, Lucia is one of exactly two playable characters, not an optional add-on.
