GTA 6 Port Gellhorn guide: everything confirmed about Leonida's forgotten coast

Cheap motels, a pawn shop you've already seen robbed, and a faded resort town with more story significance than its rent suggests. The full Port Gellhorn breakdown.

01What Port Gellhorn is

Port Gellhorn is Leonida's second city, sitting in Kelly County on the map's north-western Gulf coast. Rockstar's own framing is bleakly specific: the forgotten coast — cheap motels, shut-down attractions and empty strip malls, fuelled by malt liquor, painkillers and truck-stop energy drinks. Where Vice City is glamour and Ocean Beach is a postcard, Port Gellhorn is the America the postcards leave out. Tonally it's the closest GTA 6 gets to the desperation of RDR2's frontier towns, and that's deliberate — this is where the low-rent end of the criminal economy lives, and where Jason and Lucia's early scores make sense.

02The locations already confirmed

For a region this size, an unusual amount is already named. Port Gellhorn Pawn & Gun is the anchor — it's the store Jason and Lucia rob in the first trailer, pulling away as the scene cuts. The Starlet Motel is confirmed, along with an unnamed abandoned motel — expect at least one to function as early accommodation or a mission hub. Hank's Waffles covers the late-night diner slot every Rockstar town needs, Uncle Jack's Liquor and a Quickshop grocery round out the commercial strip, plus multiple gas stations. Individually mundane; collectively they sketch a town where every business is a robbery target, a fence, or both.

03Why it featured so heavily in the leaks

Port Gellhorn was all over the September 2022 leak footage — multiple clips showed its commercial and industrial districts, including the widely-circulated diner robbery sequence. That's a strong signal about story weight: leaked development builds concentrate on areas being actively worked, and the town's repeated appearances across leaks, Trailer 1 and official screenshots suggest a significant mid-game chapter set here. The pawn shop robbery being chosen as a trailer centrepiece reinforces it. Treat Port Gellhorn as a primary story location, not an outskirt — Rockstar doesn't spend trailer seconds on places that don't matter.

04What Port Gellhorn means for how you'll play

Reading the confirmed pieces together: Port Gellhorn is the small-scores economy. Pawn shops and gun stores are classic robbery and fencing infrastructure, motels are safehouse and mission-giver territory, and a run-down coastal city implies a police presence that's stretched thinner than Vice City's — likely making it the better environment to learn the wanted system's escape mechanics. Its Gulf-coast position also puts it near the smuggling routes referenced around Brian Heder's operation. Expect the town to serve the same role economically that the Keys serve narratively: the proving ground before Vice City's high-stakes game opens up. We'll map every confirmed pin here in the community map hub at launch.
